Post-Game Notes: Austin Peay vs. Berea College

  • Junior Chris Horton finished with 12 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks, becoming the first Governor to record a triple-double since Feb. 22, 2001. Trenton Hassell was the last to do it, scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists against UT Martin.
  • The 10 blocks by Horton is a career-high, surpassing his then-school record total of eight against UT Martin, Jan. 2, of this year. The Govs had 14 more blocks than Berea (17-3) in the contest.
  • The 17 blocks also is a school record. The previous mark was 11 against UT Martin in 2003 and Brescia in 2010.
  • Horton is just the second player in Austin Peay history to total 200+ career blocks. Josh Lewis (2000-03) is the career record holder with 257.
  • Chris Freeman totaled a double-double for the Govs, leading all players with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while also grabbing 10 rebounds.
  • Freeman's 19 points also are a career-best for the senior forward.
  • It's the first time since 2010 in which two APSU players have recorded double-doubles in the same game.
  • Today's game also marks the first time since 2012 where two Governors have reached double figures in the rebounding department.
  • Berea went on a 19-2 run that spanned six minutes in the first half, boosting the Mountaineers to a 17-point lead.
  • The Mountaineers were lights out from three in the first half (70 percent), but cooled off in the second to go 1-for-7.
  • Before senior Ed Dyson nailed a three-pointer with 8:41 remaining in the game, the last successful attempt behind the arch for APSU came just under two minutes into the contest.
  • When the Govs took the lead with 4:03 remaining in the game, it was the first time APSU had led since the 12:53 mark of the first half.
  • APSU went on a 14-2 run to close out the game, with Berea going just 1-for-15 on attempts during that stretch.
