A pair of senior Austin Peay State University football players – offensive tackle
Ben Stansfield and defensive tackle
Iosua Siliva – were named Capital One Second-Team Division I Academic All-Americans by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), becoming Austin Peay's first football Academic All-Americans since 2005.
Stansfield was a December graduate as a pre-law/psychology major, a six-time member of the President's List (4.0 GPA) during his time at Austin Peay. Siliva graduated in May with an Agricultural-Sustainable Development degree and was the 2012-13 Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor recipient for highest GPA (4.0) for football.
On the field, Stansfield was a preseason All-OVC pick prior to his senior year, while Siliva earned a spot on the Senior Bowl Watchlist. Siliva also netted an invite to Indianapolis Colts training camp as an undrafted free agent.
In addition to Academic All-American honors, the duo racked up Academic All-District nods – the second for Stansfield and third for Siliva – FCS Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star honors and were inducted into the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society. Siliva also earned a nomination for the 2014 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award.
