Austin Peay women’s tennis adds Albertson for fall 2016

CLARKSVILLE – As Austin Peay State University women's tennis team builds a strong foundation for the future, highly-touted Georgia native Ana Albertson has signed to become a Lady Gov beginning in the fall of 2016.

Albertson, of Woodstock, Georgia, has shined throughout her prep career, now entering a fourth and final campaign at Etowah High School. With a current record of 18-2, Albertson has made a splash in the USTA individual rankings beginning in 14's and 16's, coming in at top 20 for the state of Georgia and top 90 in the South. Now playing in 18's, she has furthered up the ladder (No. 7 state, No. 59 regionally).

While leading the Lady Eagles from the No. 1 or No. 2 position, Albertson helped Etowah reach the state final four under head coach Billie Morgan for the first time in a decade.

"Anna has been ranked as high as sixth in the state of Georgia," Brown said. "She is the best American recruit we've had since Maria (Sorbello) and I have been here. She's a delightful young lady and we're excited to have her next fall."

In the classroom, Albertson has been a member of the BETA club all four years, with a GPA at least 89 percent or higher throughout high school. In 2016, Albertson will become the third member of her family to compete in Division I athletics – father, Scott, played football at Oklahoma State and brother, Anders, played golf at Georgia Tech.

Albertson becomes the second addition for women's tennis in the early signing period after Helena Kuppig received a scholarship award for the upcoming spring.
