Postgame Notes: Austin Peay at Eastern Kentucky

  • The Governors fall to 4-43 all-time against Eastern Kentucky, and have lost four straight dating back to 2011.
  • The loss was Austin Peay's 34th consecutive road loss, the longest streak in the nation – three more than FBS Kansas and four more than second-place FCS institution VMI, both of whom suffered road losses on Saturday.
  • The Governors have lost 15 straight on the road at Eastern Kentucky, a streak that dates back to 1977.
  • Austin Peay's 151 rushing yards against Eastern Kentucky were its season high and nearly equaled its season total of 186 rushing yards coming into the contest. That snapped a three-game streak where Austin Peay failed to gain 100 yards on the ground as a team.
  • Redshirt freshman Kendall Morris posted a career-best 75 yards rushing on 15 carries, the best rushing performance by a Governor in 2015.
  • Austin Peay has now lost four consecutive conference-opening contests and 15 of its last 18.
  • Junior Devon Jones had a career day. The tight end-turned-safety posted a career-high 10 tackles—the first double-digit tackling effort by a Governor this season—and assisted on a tackle for loss.
  • For the fifth game in a row dating back to last season, Austin Peay failed to record a quarterback sack.
  • After combining to go 5-for-31 on third-down against Southern Miss and Vanderbilt, the Governors were a respectable 6-for-15 on third-down conversions against the Colonels.
  • Jones (10 tackles), sophomore Benedict Louis (eight), sophomore Zach Stuart (eight) and freshman James Bond (four) posted career-high tackling numbers.
  • Eastern Kentucky scored on nine of its first 10 possessions, including a sequence of five consecutive touchdown drives.
  • After entering with a plus-three turnover margin, Austin Peay lost the turnover battle against EKU, turning the ball over twice without forcing a takeaway. It's the first time in 2015 the Govs didn't force at least one turnover.
  • Austin Peay has suffered a blocked punt in three of four contests this season.
