Post-Game Notes: APSU vs. EIU

  • This was the 43rd meeting between Austin Peay and Eastern Illinois. Although EIU has won two straight, the Governors still hold a 26-17 advantage.
  • This is the first time APSU has had back-to-back overtime games since the 2012-13 season when it happened twice.
  • Junior point guard Terrell Thompson broke a three-game scoreless streak by nailing a pair of free throws with 18:06 left in the first half.
  • The Governors entered the game 49th nationally in fouls per game (17.4) and had 14 at halftime. Kenny Jones had three while Chris Horton, Khalil Davis, Chris Porter-Bunton and Terrell Thompson each had two forcing the Govs reserves to the floor for nearly half (46) of the Govs' 100 minutes. The Govs finished with a season-high 26 fouls, with Khalil Davis fouling out. .
  • The OVC's fourth worst rebounding team (EIU) out-rebounded the league's top rebounding team (APSU) by a 47-37 margin.
  • Freshman forward/guard Jared Savage matched his career-best with 11 points. His six rebounds tied for his season's second most.
  • Chris Horton tallied his season's 17th double-double with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Horton finished with his season's eighth contest with 20 or more points. It was his career's 20th.
  • The Govs' 64 percent free-throw shooting effort (25 of 39) was the sixth time in seven OVC games where they shot less than 70 percent.
  • The Governors converted just 27 of 63 floor shots (43 percent), the fifth time in league play they have shot less than 45 percent from the floor.
  • The Governors also were just 7-of-27 from three-point territory, making them only 23 of 89 (26 percent) in the last four games.
  • The Governors nine steals gives them 37 over the last three games.
  • Josh Robinson's 20-point effort made it the second time this year he has put together back-to-back games of 20 or more points.
  • In two weekend games, Robinson was 28 of 32 (88 percent) from the free-throw line.
