Postgame Notes: Austin Peay vs. Jacksonville State

  • Austin Peay earned its first OVC win of 2016, Thursday, not allowing Jacksonville State to lead in a 73-54 victory.
  • The win snaps a four-game losing streak against JSU, becoming the first victory over the Gamecocks since 2012.
  • The Governors held the Gamecocks to just 30 percent (20-of-67) from the field, the first time APSU has held an opponent to 30 percent or below since 2013 against Dalton State (12/30/13).
  • The Govs stifled JSU in the second half, holding the visitors to 28 percent overall and 3-of-17 from three-point territory.
  • Despite the win, APSU committed 17 turnovers, five of which coming in the opening two minutes of the contest.
  • Senior center Chris Horton took advantage of a size differential in the low post, recording 24 points and 13 rebounds for his 49th career double-double.
  • In the painted area, Austin Peay held a 38-14 edge over the Gamecocks.
  • Sophomore guard Josh Robinson scored the game's first five points, and finished second on the team at 13 points (3-of-6 3FG).
  • Off the bench, junior John Murray entered to score nine points (4-of-4 FTs), all coming in the second half.
  • Only one Gamecock – JaQuail Townser – reached double figures on the night with 10 points.
