Post-Game Notes: APSU vs. Eastern Illinois

Post-Game Notes

  • APSU's win at EIU represented the first time since the 2012-13 season the Govs won back-to-back OVC road games. The Govs won at both Eastern Illinois (2/14/13) and SIUE (2/16/13) that season.
  • With his 19 points Chris Horton moved past the legendary James "Fly" Williams into 10th place all-time in Austin Peay scoring with 1548 points.
  • With his eight field goals, Horton also moved from 10th to eighth all time with 604.
  • With his 13 rebounds, Horton now has 1,160 for his career, moving him past Jim Jennings (Murray State, 1961-64) into sole possession of eighth place in OVC history.
  • With Horton's 19 points and 13 rebounds and Kenny Jones 19 points and 10 rebounds, it was the first time this season the Govs had a pair of players record double-doubles. In fact, it was the first time since Horton and Khalil Davis did it against Murray State, Feb. 7, 2015.
  • A game after recording the game-sealing steal versus Murray State, reserve point guard Tre' Ivory came up big against Eastern Illinois down the stretch. His defense resulted in an offensive foul against star EIU point guard Cornell Johnston. He also had a key basket—a driving layup against Johnston—and three key free throws in the final minutes for a total of five points.
  • Josh Robinson went 12-of-15 at the free-throw line, the fifth time this season—and the second straight game—he has recorded double-digit free throws.
  • The Govs dominated the glass, 42-27, ending a streak of five consecutive games they had been out-rebounded. The Governors, in fact, snared 15 offensive rebounds.
  • Senior forward Khalil Davis filled up the stat line with 10 points, including a 4-for-4 free-throw effort, seven rebounds and a team-high six assists, four coming in the second half.
  • The Governors converted 23 of 30 free throws (76.7 percent) for a second straight game. It was the fifth time during OVC play APSU made at least 20 free tosses.
  • Josh Robinson led the Govs in scoring with 21 points, the second straight game he accumulated that total. He reached the 20-point figure by making only three field goals (all three pointers) while also converting 12 free throws.
