Postgame Notes: Austin Peay vs. Murray State

  • Austin Peay was outscored 45-29 in the second half of Saturday's game against Murray State, falling 76-60 at the Dunn Center.
  • The Racers hit six three-points in the half, four by Jeffery Moss, who led the visitors with 22 points (19 in second half).
  • Murray State won the rebounding battle 36-25, leading to 14 second-chance points on the boards.
  • Free throw shooting proved to be a key element in the contest. The Racers were 82 percent from the line, while APSU was just 10-of-24 (42 percent). The Govs had previously shot at least 75 percent in their previous three contests before Saturday night.
  • Offensively, the Govs had four players reach double figures, led by sophomore guard Josh Robinson. Robinson made two three-pointers to begin the game and finished with 17 points.
  • Senior center Chris Horton totaled 16 points, but went just 4-of-9 from the charity stripe. He also grabbed six rebounds on the evening. It breaks a streak of four consecutive double-doubles for him.
  • Senior Khalil Davis and junior Kenny Jones were the two remaining Governors to eclipse the 10-point mark, scoring 12 and 10, respectively, with 11 combined rebounds.
  • Austin Peay committed 10 turnovers – its lowest amount since Jan. 9 against Tennessee Tech – but the Racers were able to cash those in for 20 points off takeaways.
  • After knocking down five treys in the first half, the Govs were held to only 1-of-6 from that point forward.
  • The Govs are now 42-84 in the all-time series versus Murray State.
