Postgame Notes: Austin Peay vs. Jacksonville State

  • Austin Peay scored five runs in the ninth inning before its rally fell short against Jacksonville State, Friday, in second-round action.
  • Jacksonville State scored 12 runs in the contest, the most given up by APSU in a tournament game since 2004 (15 vs. Samford, May 27).
  • Junior second baseman Garrett Copeland led the Governors with three RBI, going 2-for-4 with two doubles out of the leadoff spot.
  • Another junior, Ridge Smith, also went 2-for-4 and a pair of RBI courtesy of a double in the ninth.
  • APSU batters drew 11 walks against JSU pitchers, tying a season-high.
  • On the flip side, the Governors issued nine free passes, the second highest total in 2016.
  • Sophomore Zach Neff took the loss for Austin Peay after the starting the day in place of Caleb Powell, who did not return following last night's short outing.
