Brown adds Japanese talent Nakanishi to women’s tennis recruiting class

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis coach Ross Brown announced the addition of Honoka Nakanishi to the 2018-2019 recruiting class. Nakanishi made it official, signing to be a Governor late last week.

"Honoka is a great addition to our women's team," Brown said. "Adding her brings more depth. She has a lot of experience, talent and doubles skill to make a real impact with our women's program. She can serve and volley – which is almost unheard of in women's tennis today. She also brings a great work ethic. She is coachable, smart and will add to the positive culture and great academics record that our women's program is known for. She is the first Japanese player we have had on our team and I hope this is the beginning of many more in the future."

Nakanishi, a native of Kashiwa, Japan, received numerous accolades during her junior career in her home country. She was named to the Best 16 All-Japan Junior team in doubles and has been ranked as high as 816 internationally and is currently ranked 30th in the Kanto Region.
