The Governors Tennis Center has been a part of Austin Peay athletics and the Clarksville community for more than two decades. When the idea was broached to build an indoor tennis center on the Austin Peay campus, the advantages were obvious for Austin Peay students, the Governors and Lady Govs tennis programs and the local tennis community.

The indoor facility literally became the tennis "center" in northwest Tennessee. The site of Clarksville's first indoor tennis center is located across the street from Governors Stadium and next to the stadium parking lot. It consists of four lighted courts and dressing facilities for both men and women.
The University allows use of the indoor facility to the community through memberships for families, individuals and corporations. Austin Peay students do not have to pay a membership fee but are charged a reduced court-time fee.
Combined with the recently renovated Governors Tennis Courts located next to the Foy Center, Austin Peay arguably possesses the Ohio Valley Conference’s finest tennis facilities.
