Former Governor basketball and golf great, from 1946-1950. Stone, a graduate for East High School in Nashville, played basketball at Austin Peay under legendary coach Dave Aaron and was the first APSU player to be named All-American by the National Association of Intercollegiate Basketball in 1948-49. As a golfer, Stone was four-time member of the All-Volunteer State Athletic Conference and All-VASC Tournament teams. A winner of the Joy Award, Stone took home co-medalist honors during the 1949 VASC golf championships.
