Former professional baseball player with the Cincinnati Reds, who was a great all-around athlete at Austin Peay... Had the second highest batting average in school history in 1961 (.435) and a career mark of .369 while playing third base and shortstop... Also holds Austin Peay record for most times at bat in one game (7)... Was named All-VSAC as a senior in 1961 after he captained the Govs to an 11-4 record... Was named All-VSAC in basketball in 1961 and All-Regional in the NCAA South Central tournament after leading the Governors to a 22-9 record with 10.4 points per game... In track, he held the school record in 220-yard dash (22.6) for many years... The Lafayette, Ala., native was named recipient of the Joy Award in 1961 and presently resides in Shreveport, La.
