Brian Baca

Brian Baca, who was the Govs assistant quarterbacks coach in Spring 2021 enters this fall as the team’s tight ends coach. Baca joined APSU’s coaching staff after completing his collegiate playing career at East Texas Baptist.

Baca was a two-time First Team All-American Southwest Conference selection as a quarterback at ETBU, finishing his career with 7,155 passing yards, 8,054 yards total offense and was responsible for 79 touchdowns (64 passing, 15 rushing). He also was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2018, twice earned ASC All-Academic Team honors twice and was received the ASC Sportsmanship Award in 2017.

2021: Elevated to tight ends coach in July.

2020: Named Governors assistant quarterbacks coach, Dec. 1, 2020.

COLLEGIATE PLAYING CAREER (2016-19)

Played four seasons at East Texas Baptist at quarterback, starting four games as a sophomore before taking over for all 10 games in both his junior and senior campaigns. Earned First Team All-American Southwest Conference honors in both 2018 and 2019, passing for more than 2,000 yards each season. Finished his career with 7,155 passing yards, 8,054 yards total offense and was responsible for 79 touchdowns (64 passing, 15 rushing). He also was a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection in 2018, twice earned ASC All-Academic Team honors twice and was received the ASC Sportsmanship Award in 2017.
