Robbie Wilson, who was named Austin Peay State University head men’s golf coach in November 2014, is now in his tenth season leading the Governors.
With Wilson leading the program, the Governors have produced four all-conference selections and four conference all-newcomer team selections. A pair of Govs also have earned all-conference tournament recognition.
Off the course, 15 Governors have been named Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholars, including a program record five selections for the 2020-21 academic year. Four Govs also were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team in 2023.
As a team, the Governors have posted 15 consecutive semesters with a 3.0 grade-point average, including a program-record 3.714 GPA during the Fall 2022 semester.
An Ashland City, Tennessee native, Wilson earned his bachelor’s degree in health and physical education/fitness from Trevecca in 2006, he was a member of the Trojans men’s golf team from 2002-06.
Wilson and his wife Megan have three children: Liam, Olivia, and Nolan.

Austin Peay (2014-CURRENT)
2023-24: Wilson’s tenth season leading the Austin Peay men’s golf program started with a fifth-place finish at Eastern Kentucky’s Colonel Shootout (Aug. 31-Sept. 1). Reece Britt fired a three-under 207 and finished tied for third to pace the Governors while freshman Seth Smith shot one-under 209 and finished in seventh place in his first collegiate event. Wilson and the Governors hosted the APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 2) for the first time since 2019 and fired a seven-under 569 to finish second at their home event. Britt shot six-under 138 at his home event and led the Govs with a second-place finish while Smith carded a four-under 140 to finish in third place. Payne Elkins also posted a fifth-place finish at the Clarksville Country Club, shooting a three-under 141 while playing for APSU’s “B Team.”
2022-23: Leading the Governors into their first season in the Atlantic Sun Conference, Wilson’s team recorded a runner-up finish at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 10-11) after shooting 10-over 874 at TPC River’s Bend in Maineville, Ohio. Reece Britt led the Govs at Xavier, shooting four-under 212 to finish in third place. In their first tournament of the spring, the Governors finished seventh at Bellarmine’s Mickey Mouse Intercollegiate (Feb. 19-21) with Britt and Jakob Falk Schollert both shooting one-over 217 to finish tied for ninth at Disney’s Palm Golf Course in Orlando, Florida. Wilson led the Govs to a 284-290 win in a stroke-play match against UT Martin (March 21) before posting a sixth-place finish at the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate (March 27-29) and a fifth-place finish at Bellarmine’s Ernie Denham Classic (April 3-4). Britt shot three-under 213 to lead the Govs at the Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate and led the team with a two-under 214 at the Ernie Denham Classic. Austin Peay closed the season with an 11th-place finish at its first ASUN Men’s Golf Championship (April 25-27), where Logan Spurrier used five-under 67s in each of the first two rounds to shoot eight-under 208 and finish the event tied for 14th.
2021-22: In Wilson’s eighth season leading the Austin Peay men’s golf program, the Govs recorded their best finish of the season at SIUE’s Derek Dolenc Invitational (Sept. 27-28), finishing in fourth place after shooting a 23-over 874. Transfer Adam Van Raden shot a one-under 212 to lead APSU and finished tied for fifth in just his second event as a Governor. Austin Peay posted two more top-10 finishes during the fall, finishing seventh at UT Martin’s Grover Page Classic (Oct. 4-5) and fifth at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 18-19). Van Raden led the Govs again at the Xavier Invitational, shooting one-over 214 to finish as the runner-up at Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, while Chase Korte recorded an eighth-place finish after shooting three-over 216. The Govs closed the spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Missouri Tiger Invitational (April 11-12) before finishing sixth at their final Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championship (April 24-26) at Dalhousie Country Club in Cape Girardeau, Missouri,
2020-21: After the fall season was canceled due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson’s squad opened the spring with a match-play win, 4.5-2.5, over Western Kentucky (Feb. 8) at the Clarksville Country Club. Later in the year, the Governors added a 4-3 match-play win over WKU (March 22) at Indian Hills Golf Course in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to claim an 8.5-5.5 aggregate victory over the Hilltoppers in the two-day event. Austin Peay closed the regular season with back-to-back top-five results at the Murray State Invitational (April 5-6) and Tennessee State’s Big Blue Classic (April 12-13). The Govs shot a seven-under 857 to finish in fourth at the Murray State Invitational, with Michael Busse carding an eight-under 208 to finish as the individual runner-up at Greystone Golf Club. At the Big Blue Classic, the Governors finished in fifth place with a score of 16-over 868 while Austin Lancaster and Chase Korte both shot even-par 213 to pace the team with eight-place finishes. Austin Peay closed the season with a seventh-place finish at the OVC Men’s Golf Championship, led by Lancaster, who shot a three-over 219 and finished in 12th place en route to earning All-OVC honors.
2019-20: In a season that was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, Wilson and the Governors opened the campaign with a fifth-place finish at Southern Miss’ Sam Hall Intercollegiate (Sept. 9-10). In the second round of Western Carolina’s JT Potson Invitational, Michael Busse carded a six-under 65 in the second round a the Country Club of Sapphire Valley, posting the fifth-best round in APSU history and the best 18-hole score by a Gov during the Wilson Era. As a team, the Govs recorded four straight top-10 finishes, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 14-15). The Govs shot a 17-under 847 at their home tournament, led by Busse, who shot an eight-under 208 to finish as the individual runner-up. The season was cut short after the Governors competed at the Auburn Invitational presented by Jason Dufner (March 9-10). Tate Dickerson earned OVC All-Newcomer Team honors after recording a 73.27 stroke average with three rounds at even or under par and 12 counting scores in 15 rounds played during his freshman campaign.
2018-19: After a seventh-place finish at Western Carolina’s Hummingbird Invitational (Oct. 1-2), the Govs closed the fall campaign with back-to-back fifth-place results at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 15-16) and Kennesaw State’s Pinetree Intercollegiate (Oct. 22-23). Chase Korte led the Govs with top-10 finishes in both events. In the spring’s first event, the Governors shot a 10-over 874 to finish as the runner-up at William & Mary’s Invitational at Savannah Harbor (Feb. 16-17) with Michael Busse shooting a one-under 215 to finish in fourth. Austin Peay closed the spring with three straight top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Wofford Invitational (April 1-2) and a fifth-place finish at Lipscomb’s Ryman Hotels Intercollegiate (April 8-9). Korte and Austin Lancaster finished third and fifth, respectively, at the Ryman Hotels Intercollegiate with scores of five-under 211 and four-under 212. At the OVC Men’s Golf Championship (April 21-23), the Govs recorded their best finish under Wilson, shooting an even-par 864 to finish in fourth place at The Fighting Joe at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Korte – who earned All-OVC and OVC All-Tournament honors – fired a five-under 211 to finish in fifth place while Lancaster and Busse both shot two-under 214 to finish tied for tenth. Micah Knisley was named the OVC Freshman of the Year after posting a 74.96 stroke average with eight rounds at even or under par and 20 counting scores in 27 rounds played in his first season under Wilson.
2017-18: During his fourth season in Clarksville, Austin Peay posted 11 top-10 finishes, seven top-five finishes, and secured the first team tournament win of the Wilson Era. During the fall slate, the Govs posted fifth-place results at the Murray State Invitational (Sept. 11-12) and the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 16-17) before closing the fall with a fourth-place finish at the MTSU Intercollegiate (Oct. 30). Austin Peay opened the spring season with a runner-up finish at William & Mary’s Invitational at Savannah Harbor (Feb. 17-18), where Michael Busse shot a four-under 212 to finish in third and Alex Vegh carded a three-under 213 to finish in sixth place. The next time out, the Governors picked up their first win under Wilson when they shot a seven-under 857 to win Loyola - Maryland’s Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate at Fort Lauderdale Country Club's North Course. Austin Lancaster carded a five-under 211 to pace the Govs and finish as the runner-up at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate, while Vegh shot one-under 215 and Busse shot even-par 216 to post fourth and ninth place finishes, respectively. Austin Peay added third-place finishes at Tennessee Tech’s Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (April 18-20) and the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational (April 9-10) to close the regular season. Freshman Chase Korte – who would earn All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer honors – led the Governors at the season finale, shooting nine-under 207 to finish as the runner-up at the Wofford Intercollegiate. At the OVC Men’s Golf Championship (April 23-25), the Govs finished in sixth place, led by a ninth-place finish from Vegh.
2016-17: After closing the fall slate with three consecutive top-10 finishes, Wilson’s team posted three consecutive top-five results to close the spring schedule. After finishing tied for third at Tennessee Tech’s Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (March 19-21) – highlighted by a fourth-place finish from Hunter Tidwell – the Govs finished tied for fifth at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational (April 3-4) and third at Missouri’s Tiger Invitational (April 10-11). Erik Hedberg posted the best individual finish of the season by a Gov at the Tiger Invitational, shooting a four-under 212 to finish as the event’s runner-up. Austin Peay went on to finish sixth at the OVC Men’s Golf Championship (April 24-26), led by a 13th-place finish from Hunter Tidwell, who earned OVC All-Newcomer Team recognition.
2015-16: In his first full season at the helm, the Govs posted three consecutive top-five finishes during the spring campaign, starting with a fourth place in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate (March 11-13) on Pinehurst No. 8. Austin Peay then finished tied for third at Tennessee Tech’s Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (March 20-22) and fifth at the ASU Red Wolves Intercollegiate (April 4-5). The Govs closed the season with an eighth-place finish at the OVC Men’s Golf Championship (April 25-27).
2014-15: Named the head men’s golf coach in November, Wilson took over for Dustin Korte, who served as Austin Peay’s interim head coach during the fall season. In Wilson’s second event at the helm, Chris Baker shot an 11-under 61 to break the APSU 18-hole scoring record in the second round of Grub Mart Intercollegiate (March 23) at Silver Lakes Golf Course in Glencoe, Alabama. Baker finished the event in sixth place and the Governors went on to post a fifth-place finish, the first top-five result of Wilson’s APSU tenure. The Govs closed the season with another top-five finish, shooting a 10-over 874 to finish in fifth place at the 2015 OVC Men’s Golf Championship (April 24-26) at The Fighting Joe course at The Shoals on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Baker earned All-OVC and OVC All-Tournament honors while freshman Justin Arens was named an OVC All-Newcomer team selection.
Trevecca (2006-14)
2006-14: While leading his alma mater, Wilson guided Trevecca to back-to-back Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships during the 2013 and 14 seasons, while also being named G-MAC Coach of the Year both years. While navigating a transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II level, Wilson coached 14 individual medalists, eight team tournament victories, and two individual conference champions. In addition, Wilson mentored 16 all-conference performers, two conference freshmen of the year selections, and helped three Trojans finish in the top-40 nationally in scoring average at the NAIA and Division II levels. During the 2011 season, Wilson guided the Trojans to a fifth-place finish at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship. Off the course, Wilson mentored 18 conference scholar-athletes and a trio of NAIA National Scholar-Athletes Award recipients. Wilson also oversaw fundraising and construction of an on-campus short-game facility at Trevecca in 2013. In addition to his coaching duties, he served as gameday management coordinator for Trevecca men and women’s basketball for six years while also being Trevecca’s Director of Intramural Athletics for the duration of his time in Nashville.
