CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Austin Peay State University's softball team will host the University of Tennessee-Martin in a 2
p.m., Tuesday doubleheader at Lady Govs Field.
The Lady Govs own a 14-20-1 record (4-4 OVC) and are tied with Southeast Missouri (5-5 OVC) for third place in the Ohio
Valley Conference softball race. UT-Martin and Tennessee Tech are tied for first place, both with 9-2 conference records.
APSU returns home after a weekend trip to Eastern Kentucky, where it was swept by the Lady Colonels in a three-game
series.
Freshman Lori McCoy stamped her spot in history Saturday by being the first Lady Gov to hit two home runs in one game.
They came in the first game of the EKU series and moved her season's total to three home runs.
The Skyhawks, 18-20 overall, are being led by sophomore pitcher Nicole Davis, who is 6-5 with a 1.71 ERA. She is batting
.308 and has blasted three home runs this season. Junior Angela Baize is batting .369.
"Martin always gives us a dogfight," said APSU head coach Tara McCoy. "They're scrappy and play hard from start to finish.
They are a hard-nosed team. They come out, they want to beat us every time, they play hard.
"You've got to play top ball to beat them and that's what we're planning on doing."
