CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University senior offensive lineman
Avery Fleming has been named to
his second preseason All-American team.
The Nashville native (Battle Ground Academy) has been selected to the Don Hansen Preseason 1-AA Mid-Major
All-American team.
A two-time first-team All-PFL South selection who helped spearhead
Jay Bailey's record-setting 2002 season,
Fleming previously was named to the Sports Network I-AA Mid-Major Preseason All-America team.
Fleming transferred to APSU from Memphis in 2000. In his first season, he split time between nose guard and
tight end before moving to offensive line in spring 2001. He was a Tennessee "Mr. Football" for BGA as a prep senior in
1998.
Fleming is the only Gov to earn preseason recognition. The I-AA Mid-Major includes the 23 programs of the
MAAC, NEC, and Pioneer Leagues, which play at a non-scholarship or limited-scholarship level.
