CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Drew Miller, who recently captured the TSSAA AAA State Championship for Clarksville High School, has signed a letter of intent to play men's golf at Austin Peay State University.
Miller capped a spectacular prep career by shooting a six-under-par 138 in the state tournament at the Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro, winning a three-way playoff on the first hole.
“We are very excited to have Drew join the Austin Peay golf team,” APSU coach Kirk Kayden said. “He has loads of potential and the ability to shoot low scores.
“I think his length off the tee plus his desire to win are things I really like about him. He will have a great impact on our program and I look for him to contribute right away as a freshman”.
Miller owned a 70.3 scoring average as a senior. He was first-team All-State for a second time (he also earned such honors in 2005). He was a member of The Tennessean's All-Midstate the last three years. He also was a three-time Region 5 AAA champion. As a sophomore and junior, he helped lead Clarksville High School to back-to-back Class AAA State Championships.
Miller qualified for the Westfield PGA Junior National Championship in 2006 and 2007?it is recognized as one of the most prestigious junior events in the country. He has also finished in the top five of two American Junior Golf Association tournaments.

He will join former Clarksville High School teammate Brian Balthrop as a Governor. Balthrop is a freshman on APSU's 2007-08 team.
“I really like the fact that we will have two local products on the team in Brian Balthrop and Drew Miller for the next three or four years,” Kayden said. “They not only are own great potential on the golf course but are outstanding you men as well.”
