CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University men and women's tennis teams return to action after a week
layoff with a noon, Saturday, Ohio Valley Conference match against Tennessee Tech at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts.
The Govs (3-12, 0-2) have lost six straight matches since their win against Western Kentucky, Feb. 20. In fact, that
skid started with a pair of OVC losses to Jacksonville State, 0-7, and Tennessee-Martin, 2-5. Sophomore Lucas De Brito is
6-8 at No. 1 singles, including a win against UT Martin. Freshman Leonardo Locatelli is 5-7 at No. 3 singles. The two also
play No. 1 doubles where they are 4-10, but sit undefeated in OVC action.
Austin Peay women's team (1-10, 0-2) has struggled, searching for the right combination throughout the year. With
five freshmen, two sophomores and one senior, the Lady Govs bring a youthful component to the court. They are coming
off their season's first win, 7-0, over Division II Upper Iowa. Freshman Mariana Pagan is 2-6 at No. 1 singles. Pagan has
teamed with senior Izabel Rzezniczek for three wins at No. 1 doubles.
Tennessee Tech women's team (1-11, 1-1) has also struggled early in the conference season. The Golden Eagles are
coming off a pair of close OVC matches where they lost to UT Martin, 3-4, and narrowly beat Morehead State, 4-3, two
days later. Mariana Ruiz is 6-5 at No. 3 singles and 2-0 in OVC play. Margot Carter and Amy Anstey are both 2-0 in
league matches.
The Golden Eagle men's team (2-10, 2-0) has won two of their last three matches, including a 5-2 win over UT Martin
and a 7-0 win over Morehead State. The men are winless on the road this season. Tiago Gilioli is 5-5 at No. 1 singles,
including a 2-0 mark in conference play. Borja Zarco boasts a 6-4 record at No. 2 singles and a 2-0 league mark.
