CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.? Austin Peay State University athletics has announced it will have a new home for its commercial broadcasts.
WVRY, 105.1 FM in Waverly, will carry all Austin Peay men's basketball and football games plus all OVC games for both Lady Govs basketball and Governors baseball.
“It is truly an honor for Solid Gospel 105.1 FM to be the home of Austin Peay athletics,“ said Phillip Chambers, part owner and director of sales for Grace Broadcasting East. “As an alum, I'm so proud to be able to bring Austin Peay athletics the coverage it deserves in this region.
“Now Austin Peay fans will be able to catch games anywhere from Cadiz and Russellville on the north, over to Nashville on the east, down to Lawrenceburg and Savannah in the south, up to Jackson, Paris and Murray (Ky.) on the West. At Grace Broadcasting, we're excited about hopefully keeping this partnership for many years to come.”
The contract is for one year with Austin Peay having the option of renewing each year for an additional three years?a total of four years.
“We are excited about this agreement with WVRY and Grace Broadcasting,” APSU athletics director Dave Loos said. “WVRY was very aggressive in the pursuit of obtaining Austin Peay's broadcast rights.
“It has been a goal of ours to have all our broadcasts under one umbrella and we have been able to accomplish that. We also are delighted we will be able to reach more of our fans.
“We look forward to a similar relationship with WVRY that we have had with WJZM. We really appreciate the support they have provided our athletic department over these many years.
”For several years, WVRY, when owned by the Salem Music Network, served as a broadcast affiliate for Governors basketball games. Grace Broadcasting recently purchased that station.
