CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University student-athletes posted a 2.77 grade-point average during the recently completed Fall 2007 semester, director of athletics Dave Loos announced, Thursday.

Six of the department's 16 teams posted a 3.0 GPA for the semester, led by women's soccer, which posted a 3.387 GPA, with 19 of the team's 22 student-athletes recognized on the AD's honor roll, including four members receiving President's List recognition for perfect 4.0 GPAs. They were followed by volleyball (3.242), women's cross country (3.231), women's tennis (3.186), men's tennis (3.162) and women's track and field (3.056). The Governors baseball team just missed a 3.0 GPA with a team-best 2.977 GPA during the fall semester.

"Austin Peay student-athletes always have taken great pride in excelling at the highest level ? both in the classroom and in their respective sport," said Loos. "Our student-athletes should be applauded for continuing that tradition of hard work and success."

The department named 137 student-athletes to the Fall 2007 Athletics Director's Honor Roll, representing 46 percent of the department's 295 student-athletes. Included in that tally are 18 student-athletes who were named to the President's List and 61 student-athletes who were named to APSU's Dean's list, earning a 3.5 or better GPA and denoted with a bullet. Established in 1990-91, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of Austin Peay State University student-athletes. To earn recognition student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for a semester.
