Join the Govs and Lady Govs in their fight against cancer this season!

Throughout the 2008-09 athletic season, Austin Peay athletes will do their part to fight cancer. We invite our fans to take part in any of the following events by making a donation or pledge to support the fight agianst cancer.

 Lady Govs Volleyball: Dig for the Cure October 24-25, 2008

Austin Peay women's volleyball team invites its fans to wear pink to its matches on October 24 and 25 to show solidarity in the fight against breast cancer. The Lady Govs will be accepting pledges and donations to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Dig for the Cure has raised over $300,000 the last five years for breast cancer research, thanks in large part to the work of Lisa Marston.  Over 180 Volleyball Programs are participating in 2008, with all proceeds going to the local Susan G. Komen affiliate in each program's area.

 Lady Govs Basketball: WBCA Pink Zone

Austin Peay women's basketball team invites fans to wear pink to its game against Tennessee State, February 14, to show support in the fight against cancer.

The WBCA Pink Zone? initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.


 Governors Basketball: Coaches vs. Cancer 3-Point Attack
All Season

Austin Peay men's basketball team will fight cancer with every three-point field goal it makes during the 2008-09 season as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Three-Point Attack. The Govs invite their fans to make a pledge for each three-point basket they make this season or to make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fund raising activities, and advocacy programs.
