Lady Govs have a good showing at the Aces Fall Classic

EVANSVILLE, Ind. ? Austin Peay State University women's tennis team were in Evansville, Ind., Oct. 26-27, for the 2008 Aces Fall Classic. During the two days the team went a combined 7-14.

Mariana Pagan and Michelle Liew both made it to the finals in the consolation game of the “Flight A” Singles. Liew defeated Alexandra Rydberg (6-0, 6-2) and Madeleinne Antero (6-2. 2-6, 10-4). Pagan defeated Marija Duran (6-1, 6-4) and Marlou Van Bussell (6-2, 6-2).

Mary Beth Lefler and Brittany Hays both made it to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket of the “Flight C” Singles before losing. Lefler defeated Brown (3-6, 6-2, 10-5) and Brittany Hays defeated Emily Schum (7-6, 6-1).

Liew also defeated Michelle Girgenti in the first round of the main draw before a loss to Kate Chybowski from Evansville knocked her to the consolation bracket. Chybowski went on to win the bracket, and finish the tournament undefeated.

Austin Peay went 0-4 in the doubles competition during the weekend.

The Lady Govs return to action hosting the APSU Fall Invitational, Oct. 11, at the Austin Peay Tennis Courts
