Lady Govs tennis falls at Samford

Austin Peay State University women's team suffered a 7-0 loss to Samford, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action. The Lady Govs remain winless on the year at 0-8 overall, including an 0-2 league record. The Bulldogs improved to a league best 9-2 with a 3-0 OVC mark.

Samford opened the match taking all three doubles matches in convincing fashion. Morgan Klieber and Mariana Pagan lost, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, but the Bulldogs lost only one game in the two bottom matches.

The Lady Govs continued to struggle in the singles competition. Pagan lost at No. 1 singles in tiebreaker to Taylor Morgan after winning the first set, 7-5. Morgan won the second set, 7-5, and then tiebreaker for the match. No other Lady Govs player won more than three games in a set.

1. Anna Jackson/Katie Weaver (SAM) def. Mariana Pagan/Morgan Klieber (APSU) 8-4

2. Lindsey Mallory/Taylor Morgan (SAM) def. Laura Gonzalez/Alexandria Pyle (APSU) 8-0

3. Rebecca Kirven/Andrie Meiring (SAM) def. Michelle Liew/Mary Beth Lefler (APSU) 8-1
