Michelle Liew won in three sets, but it was not enough as Austin Peay State University women's tennis team lost, 6-1, at Tennessee-Martin, Monday. The Lady Govs fall to 0-9 overall with an 0-2 league record, while the Skyhawks improve to 4-7 and 3-2 in conference play.
Liew's come-from-behind win at No. 2 singles was the only bright spot in the Lady Govs visit to Martin, Tenn. The sophomore from Malaysia dropped the first set, 1-6, to UT Martin's Sara Leavy. However, she battled back winning the second set, 7-6, and forcing the tiebreaker. She used that second-set momentum to win the tiebreaker for the Lady Govs only win of the match.
Mariana Pagan lost (6-3, 7-5) at No. 1 singles and the Skyhawks handily won the bottom four matches. UT Martin also dominated the doubles competition as the Lady Govs won only three games in three matches.
