CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Kelvin Young, Austin Peay State University rising senior defensive back, has been named a 2008 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.

Young, a Memphis native (Germantown HS) who posted a 3.2 fall grade-point average and owned a 3.23 GPA after five APSU semesters as a health and human performance major, earned third-team football recognition.

Diverse: Issues in High Education established the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars Awards to honor undergraduate students of color who have achieved both academically and athletically.

To be included, student have to compete in an intercollegiate sports; maintain at least a cumulative 3.2 grade-point average and be active on their respective campuses or communities.
