Govs tennis shutout at New Orleans

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. ? Austin Peay State University men's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip to New Orleans being shutout, 7-0, by the University of New Orleans. The Govs fall to 1-7 while the Privateers improve to 10-5.

The Govs closest matches came on the doubles side as Lucas De Brito and Leonardo Locatelli lost 9-8 to Privateers Calvin Kemp and Ben Smith at No. 1. Austin Peay needed that win to avoid the sweep after coming up empty at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, it was Locatelli picking up the Govs only set win, taking the opening frame 6-4, but losing the second set and the tiebreaker to Kemp at No. 1. Renan Bezerra lost (6-3, 6-1) at No. 3 singles and the rest of the Govs combined to win only one game.
