CLARKSVILLE , Tenn.-Prior to 2009, only one Austin Peay State University football player served as a team captain for three straight seasons.

Quarterback Brian Baker was named team captain from 1999-2001 during the Governors non-scholarship era.

Now add two more names to that list. Linebacker Daniel Becker and defensive tackle Rocky Dee Peeler have been voted captains for a third straight season by their teammates. Becker, from Brentwood, and Peeler, from Kingsport, have been starters for the APSU defense since early in their respective freshmen seasons. They are now are seniors for the 2009 Govs that will open the season 6 p.m., Saturday, at home against Newberry .

In addition to Peeler and Becker, two other seniors were voted captains by their teammates, cornerback Kevis Buckley and offensive tackle Tyler Trent, who is the offense's only captain selection.
