Quotes from APSU Coach Rick Christophel:
"We've got to get better at what we're trying to do. I believe our scheme is getter better, but kids have got to understand down and distance situations.
"We had two plays where we got caught out of position, defensively. Those two big plays (which led to EIU touchdowns) hurt us and they were both against guys who have been playing very well. That tells us that they didn't know the down-distance situation and didn't know what was going on on the field. We've got to do a better job making them aware of that.
We've got to do a better job wearing down opposing defenses. As coaches, we've got to do a better job of getting a third (running) back involved. Jontamion Forrest has got to get more involved, because he's a bigger back that runs some people over. We've got some things for him to do. We've got to get some speed on the edge; we've got Terrence (Holt) on the edge and Ryan (White) has done a good job between the tackles.
We still haven't gotten a complete game. I couldn't have said last week where we were going. I feel a lot better this week, especially with the running game and our defense. We're a capable football team; we've just got to keep staying on the same things so our kids will understand. We've got to get through the injury bug. We'll find answers. Believe me, we'll find the right answers."
