Wallace inked for Govs Golf 2011-12 team

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.– The hunt to replace a pair of graduating seniors has started for Austin Peay State University men's golf team as head coach Kirk Kayden has signed Tucker Wallace, of Dickson, to a National Letter of Intent.

The 2010-11 Govs' golf team will seek to fill holes vacated by a pair of seniors in Brian Balthrop and Luke Sherrod, both of whom have been four-year contributors.

Wallace is amidst his senior season at Dickson County High School, where he has already been tabbed one of the top 10 players in the state. A highly-touted junior player, Wallace was the 2006-07 U.S. Junior Golf Boys Junior High Player of the Year. Throughout his high school career, Wallace has played in three state championship tournaments including a fifth-place finish in 2008.

“Tucker has the ability to go low and anytime you can get a player like this it is going to improve your program,” Kayden said. “Tucker has a great combination of length off the tee and good touch around the greens. I look for him to make an immediate impact on our team.”

Wallace has seen success at a high level, finishing 17th at the 2010 Future Masters, played at the Dothan Country Club in Dothan, Ala. Wallace was just seven shots off the lead, with a three-round 219. In the Clarksville area, Wallace finished second at the 2010 Craig Rudolph, shooting 75-72.
