Lady Govs softball travels to face OVC co-leader Tennessee-Martin

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University's softball team hits the road for the first time in Ohio Valley Conference play this Saturday and Sunday to face league co-leader Tennessee-Martin for a three-game series.

The two teams will open play at Bettye Giles Field with a, 1 p.m., Saturday doubleheader, with a Sunday single game, also starting at 1 p.m.

Austin Peay (5-18, 0-2 OVC) enters in having lost its last four games, including a 4-0 non-conference loss to Western Kentucky on Wednesday - despite the Lady Govs out-hitting the Lady Toppers.

Tennessee-Martin (21-4, 2-0 OVC) comes in having its school-record 11-game winning streak snapped Wednesday at Southern Illinois Carbondale, as the Skyhawks dropped the second game of the doubleheader.

Senior Brittany Williams leads the Lady Govs with a .262 batting average, runs scored (8) and RBI (8), while freshman Morgan Brewer leads the Lady Govs in the circle with a 4-5 win-loss mark and a 3.26 ERA.

Tennessee-Martin also is led offensively by a player named Williams - Megan Williams - who enters the weekend with a .385 Batting average and six home runs.

Pitching-wise, the Skyhawks are led by the one-two punch of Kate Vanderham (7-1, 1.67 ERA) and Paji Lintz (8-1, 2.43 ERA).
