CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- The team of Jimmy Bryant/Larry Schmidt/Jeff Burkhart/Bob Lewis were the first-day winners of the of the 24th Annual Governors Golf Classic, Friday, at Swan Lake Golf Course.
That quarter shot a -21 to edge the team of Gene Whitfield/Ron Jackson/Tom Hartz/Ronny Powers in a scorecard playoff.
Third and fourth place also was settled by a scorecard playoff at -19. The team of Bret Campbell/Clint Mason/Bubba Wells/Jamie Wells edged the quartet of David Shipley/Landon Shipley/Todd Babington/Dugan Lyne.
In addition, the venerable Edmund Terrell won closest to the pin contest while Jamie Wells captured the longest drive contest.
The team of Roy Gregory/Steve Shaw/Darren Baxter/Darren Baxter earned the last-place prize.
Saturday's portion of the tournament will begin at 8 a.m.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Austin Peay athletics.
