CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.-It was a little bit of déjà vu for Gerald Noble, Sunday.
Noble helped his son, Adam, move into Castle Heights, APSU's brand new freshman dorm. Turn back the clock back to 1971 at the same time of the year and Gerald Noble was moving into Cross Hall to play his final Austin Peay football season as a senior captain. Son Adam, from Springfield, Mo., has chosen to follow in his dads footsteps to play football at Austin Peay. Gerald, who was a teammate of APSU head coach Rick Christophel and assistant Gary Shephard, was a linebacker in his day while Adam is projected as a safety.
Soon Cross Hall, Killebrew and Rawlins Hall, which became the football team residence for several years, all will be torn down as the residence hall reconstruction phase continues on the APSU campus.
Noble was just a one of the young Governors who reported to campus for the first time Sunday. Marlando Terry Norman was excited to see his youngest son, Xavier, a tight end from Murfreesboro, checking in and beginning his college football career after a successful run at Oakland High School.
In total, some 85-90 Governors reported to campus, Sunday. After their first team dinner, physicals and meetings, the Govs will be back at it Monday with more meetings along with the team's first practice, 3:45 p.m.
The Governors will be shorts Monday and Tuesday before putting on just shoulder pads for Wednesday and Thursday's practices. Friday will see the Governors work for the first time full pads.
