Game Notes -- APSU vs. Culver-Stockton

• With his first quarter touchdown to Devin Stark, senior Jake Ryan became just the second Governor quarterback to eclipse the 30 career passing touchdown mark.
• With his fourth first-quarter PAT, senior Stephen Stansell passed Harold Roberts in scoring with 187 points.
• Austin Peay held an opponent scoreless for the first time since Nov. 5, 2011, in a 40-0 victory against Central State.
• The Govs scored fifty points in a game for the first time since defeating Kentucky Wesleyan 59-7, Oct. 20th, 2001.
• The Govs scored six rushing touchdowns in a game for the first time since November 3, 1996 against UT Martin.
• Freshman Bradford Wilmer recorded his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
• The Govs 378 yards on the ground were a season-high.
• In his first career action at tailback, senior Ashlon Adams rushed 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Q: Taking care of business early today.
A: That's what we talked about doing. Coming out and establish the run and get some quick scores. I think we started preparing well on Tuesday and that makes a difference.

Q: On early running of Terrence Oliver and Ean Pemberton with Reco Williams out.
A: I think Culver-Stockton was worried about us getting the ball to the edge, so that opened some stuff up in the middle.  The first series we hit the hole pretty good doing that and Ashlon Adams gave us a little hand back there too.

Q: Playing with a short field.
A: That's what it's supposed to be like, but then you need to convert them into points. It's easy to do that when you're either going to kick field goals or score touchdowns. What we did is convert them into touchdowns.

Q: Solid play of offensive and defensive lines.
A: We did a good job on both sides of the ball on the line of scrimmage and that's something we haven't always been able to say. We forced five turnovers and we didn't turn the ball over and that makes a difference in the game.

Q: On holding Culver-Stockton under 100 yards to total offense.
A: We're not going to be able to do that with everybody, because we're in a tough league. I think we're getting a little closer. We were able to getting a little more pressure on their quarterback and that helped our secondary played better and get into positions for the three interceptions.

Q: Jacob Sexton's diversity at the quarterback position after coming in for Jake Ryan in the second quarter.
A: Jacob is going to be a different type of quarterback for us in the future than Jake has been. We've opened up our offense the past three or four weeks and Jack has handled it well and Jacob will too.

Q: The play of Keith Whitaker.
A: With injuries (at running back) we didn't know who was going to play today. Pemberton got hurt last week, so we pulled Keith up off our work squad and got him some carries and did a good job out there.
