No. 5 | Jordan Hankins selected to USA Baseball Collegiate National Team
Wearing the Red White and Blue… Rising junior second baseman Jordan Hankins was one of 22 collegiate players selected to play for USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team in a one month tour that took the team to Cuba and The Netherlands. Second baseman Jordan Hankins' impressive postseason effort caught the attention of Oregon head coach George Horton, who also happens to be an assistant coach for USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team. That performance led to Hankins becoming the first Austin Peay baseball player selected to the Collegiate National team. He joined a list of 22 collegiate players from around the country - and one of only three players selected from a mid-major team. He enjoyed a whirlwind that began in North Carolina in late June and took the team to Cuba for a five-game series against the Cuban National Team. He wrapped up his participation with the CNT at Haarlem, The Netherlands for the 26th Hararlem Baseball Week, an international baseball competition held at Pim Mulier Stadium, July 13-22. The CNT finished third in the tournament, dropping a heartbreaking contest to Cuba in the semifinals before defeating The Netherlands in the bronze-medal game. Hankins batted .214 during the entire tour, but posted a .300 batting average in five games as the team's starting second baseman.
