CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University will host its
annual Fall Sports Fan Day, from 2 -4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Red
Barn (Memorial Health Building).
Fall Sports Fan Day is a free event open to the public
giving fans of all ages a chance to meet players and coaches from Governors
football, Lady Govs soccer and volleyball, as well as the men and women's cross
country teams. Unlike last year's Fan Day in the Dunn Center, there will not be
a formal presentation, allowing fans more time to mingle with teams.
Govs football will be preparing for its season-opening game
at Western Kentucky, Sept. 1, in Bowling Green, Ky. Austin Peay most recently
had senior wide receiver Devin Stark earn preseason All-America honors from the
FCS Senior Bowl, while senior safety Antwaun Majors also was named preseason
All-OVC by Phil Steele Magazine.
Austin Peay football opens its home schedule, Sept. 22, against
UT Martin. Fans can register for free spots on Tailgate Alley by visiting
apsu.edu/TAILGATE.
After recently returning from the 2012 London Olympics,
junior soccer standouts Tatiana and Natalia Ariza will be available
representing Austin Peay soccer. The Lady Govs already have opened their 2012
campaign with a road split, falling at Southeastern Conference member Arkansas
but winning 3-1 at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Austin Peay soccer opens its home schedule at 7 p.m., Friday,
Aug. 24, when it hosts Appalachian State at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.
Lady Govs volleyball will be fresh off the season-opening Memphis
Invitational. Led by first-year head coach Taylor Mott, Austin Peay returns
three starts from last season including two-time All-OVC pick Nikki Doyle along
with Cami Fields and Hillary Plybon who were both OVC All-Newcomer selections.
