Lady Govs set to face Lipscomb in Saturday tilt

CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University women's tennis team takes to the road again for a 6 p.m., Saturday contest at Lipscomb's Whitworth Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Lady Govs seek an end to their season-opening four-match losing streak. Freshman Hannah Tatlock has won her last two matches but the Lady Govs have yet to take more than a match against any of their first four opponents.

The doubles point remains a source of frustration for head coach Ross Brown's charges. The Lady Govs enter the weekend just 2-10 in doubles play, and have yet to pick up a victory at the No. 3 spot.

The Lady Bisons enter at 4-2 with three straight wins against Evansville, North Alabama and Middle Tennessee already in February. Lipscomb opened the spring campaign with a pair of victories against Ohio Valley Conference foes UT Martin and Belmont, Jan. 24-25.

Last season, the Lady Govs dropped a hard-fought 4-3 contest to the Lady Bisons at the Austin Peay Tennis Center. Austin Peay took the doubles point and the top two singles matches but could not hang on for the victory. That loss was the Lady Govs' first to Lipscomb since the 2009 season.

The Lady Govs have a split weekend next weekend, hosting Western Kentucky 10:30 a.m., Feb. 21, before traveling to Southern Indiana for a 6 p.m., Feb. 22 contest.
