Lady Govs get by LWC in final tune-up before OVC play

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team took care of business against Lindsey Wilson College, Saturday, picking up their third win in the last four outings with a 4-3 decision.

The Lady Govs swept through the doubles point with ease, taking two against the NAIA foe. Senior Andra Cornea and junior Ornella Di Salvo defeated Alejandra Galvis and Sarah Bernos (8-5), while freshman Hannah Tatlock and junior Jovana Karac won their fourth straight (8-5) over Jessica King and Diana Gerlakh.

For the Lady Govs, it's the fourth time in the last five matches they've secured the doubles point; they're now 3-1 in those matches with wins against Lindsey Wilson, Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky.

Di Salvo won her fifth straight singles match, defeating Alicia Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 2 match. Junior Vanessa Tavares rebounded from a three-set loss against Evansville, Friday, with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Bernos at No. 3.

Tatlock solidified her hold on the No. 5 position with a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win against Anna Gaprindashvili; she's won two of her last three.

The Lady Govs take two weeks off before beginning conference play, March 15, against Jacksonville State.
