CARBONDALE, Ill. – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team saw its season opening winless streak extend to seven matches as the Lady Govs lost 6-1 to Southern Illinois, Friday, at Sportsblast. 

In doubles play for Austin Peay (0-7), the No. 3 pairing of freshman Brittney Covington and sophomore Isabela Jovanovic dropped a 6-4 decision while the No. 2 duo of sophomore Hannah Tatlock and senior Jovana Karac lost their match 6-1.  This marks the fourth consecutive match in which the Lady Govs have dropped the doubles point.

In singles action, the Lady Govs picked up their only win of the afternoon when Covington defeated Vitoria Beirao 8-7 (2) at No. 4 singles.  Karac dropped an 8-3 decision against Ariadna Cairo Baza at the No. 6 position while Tatlock fell to Meagan Monaghan 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 slot. 

The Lady Govs will return to action with a 3:00 p.m., Saturday contest against Lindsey Wilson at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center
