CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team saw its season-opening seven-match winless streak come to an end as the Lady Govs defeated Lindsey Wilson 4-3, Saturday, at the Austin Peay Indoor Tennis Center. 

In doubles action for Austin Peay (1-7), the pairing of sophomore Hannah Tatlock and senior Jovana Karac claimed an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 position. The Lady Govs were able to claim the doubles point when duo of senior Ornella Di Salvo and sophomore Vanessa Tavares earned a thrilling 9-8 (6) victory at the No. 1 slot.

In singles play, the Lady Govs were led by Tatlock who cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles and Di Salvo who claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position. The Lady Govs were able to clinch the match when Tavares earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory at the No. 3 slot. 

The Lady Govs will return to action with a 2 p.m., March 7 road contest against Kennesaw State.
