MURRAY, Ky.– Austin Peay State University men's tennis team opened its 2015 Ohio Valley Conference slate on a positive note as the Govs defeated Murray State 6-1, Tuesday at Purcell Courts.

With the win Austin Peay, improves to 6-4 overall, with a 1-0 mark in the OVC.  Murray State drops to 0-10, with a 0-1 OVC record.

In doubles play, Austin Peay was led by the duo of sophomore Aaron Jumonville and senior Aleksas Tverijonas who cruised to an 8-1 win at the No. 2 slot. The No. 1 pairing of seniors Dimitar Ristovski and Iago Seffrin claimed an 8-3 victory and the Govs were able to clinch the sweep of the doubles matches when the tandem of freshman Oleg Drobysh and sophomore Manuel Montenegro earned an 8-4 win at No. 3.

In singles action, Tverijonas earned his first win of the season at the No. 1 position when he defeated Will True 6-2, 6-0 while Jumonville cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win against Max McLean at No. 2.  In other singles matches, Seffrin earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Aleks Mitric at No. 3 singles while Montenegro and Drobysh were tested before claiming victories at the No. 4 and 5 slots.

The Govs return to the court and continue Ohio Valley Conference play with a 10:30 a.m., Friday road contest against Eastern Illinois at Darling Courts.
