CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Jessica Cathey, Austin Peay State University's rising senior golf standout, won both matches, Wednesday, and has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 83rd Annual Tennessee Women's Amateur, being played at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.
In Wednesday's first-round match, Cathey, who came in as the No. 21 seed, defeated UTC coach Collete Murray, the 12th seed, 2&1 before downing No. 5 seed Megan Woods 3&2 in the afternoon match. Woods just completed her freshman season for the Lady Mocs.
Cathey will play Katherine Holmes, the No. 4 seed, in a 7:30 a.m. (CT), Thursday quarterfinal match. If she is able to win the morning match, the Hixson native will play in the tourney semifinals during the afternoon.
