Austin Peay hosts Evansville to begin 2016 season

CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University women's tennis team will compete in its first regular season match for 2016, 6 p.m., Friday, against Evansville.

During the 2015 fall season, the Govs participated in UT Martin's Fall Invitational, Lipscomb's Invitational, Austin Peay's Fall Invitational, and finally at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional tournament. Following preseason play, APSU finished with a record of 26-10 for singles, led by the freshmen duo of Claudia and Lidia Yanes Garcia.

The last time the two teams faced one another, in 2015, Evansville came away with a 4-3 win. However, the Govs are seeking to build on their promising start to the season, with juniors Isabela Jovanovic and Hannah Tatlock, sophomore Brittney Covington, and newcomer Helena Kuppig completing a strong APSU roster.
