CLARKSVILLE - In its opening night of matches, Austin Peay State University women's tennis team rolled over Evansville, 6-1, Friday at the Governors Tennis Center.

The two teams started the match with doubles play where third seed doubles team Claudia Yanes Garcia and Hannah Tatlock fell 4-6 against Marina Moreno and Andjala Brguljan.  Junior Isabella Jovanovic and sophomore Brittney Covington moved on to win the second seed match against Katie Dolgado and Kennedy Craig, 6-4, while Lidia Yanes Garcia and newcomer Helena Kuppig were triumphant in a tie break over Evansville's Marisha Darzayan and Doreen Crasta,, 7-6 (5).

In singles play, the Govs cruised over the Purple Aces with five victories. In the first singles match, Hannah Tatlock knocked off Katie Dolgado 6-1, 6-0. Later, twins Claudia and Lidia Yanes Garcia finished their singles matches beating Doreen Crasta 6-0, 6-1 and Marina Moreno 6-1, 6-4, respectively. Shortly after, two more victories came from Helena Kuppig and Brittany Covington over Evansville's Marisha Darzyan 6-4, 7-6(5) and Crasta 6-1, 6-3. Finishing off the night, Isabella Jovanovic fell against Kennedy Craig, 3-6, 2-6.

Austin Peay returns to the court Feb. 5, hosting Dayton and Chattanooga on back-to-back dates.
