CLARKSVILLE—With Austin Peay State University fall sports set to open play over the next few weeks, it's important to know where to go to follow your favorite Austin Peay teams as they compete for Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
ESPN Clarksville, your radio home for Austin Peay football, basketball and baseball, will have a new spot on the radio dial in 2016-17, while the OVC Digital Network is back for a fifth season of Ohio Valley Conference sports.
Following a year-long process of FCC applications and engineering studies, Clarksville-based 5 Star Radio has moved the dial position for ESPN Clarksville from 100.7 FM to 104.1 FM. The all sports format will continue to broadcast on 540 AM. Those in the surrounding community can also pick up the Govs on WVRY 105.1 FM.
Additionally, fans hoping to listen on the go will need to download the Tune-In app for their smart phone or tablet. Fans listening via home computer will proceed directly to Tunein.com or http://player.liquidcompass.net/WKFNAM, which will be linked on social media, schedule pages and in pregame stories for every Austin Peay contest.
For the second year in a row, Brian Rives will handle play-by-play with Van Stokes on the call for football games, while Scott Chase and David Loos will handle the men's basketball duties; Chase and Rives will share responsibility for APSU women's hoops. Stokes will handle play-by-play during baseball season.
The OVC Digital Network (www.OVCDigitalNetwork.com), presented by Delta Dental of Tennessee, has now streamed more than 3,000 events for free, to the tune of 1.5 million viewers, since a site overhaul prior to the 2012-13 season. Last year the OVCDN launched two features that made viewing even more user-friendly for users. A DVR function was incorporated into the stream allowing the viewer to rewind and/or fast forward to any point of the contest while it is live; previously a fan could only rewind the stream 30 seconds. The other function was an "instant archiving" feature that allowed fans to watch a replay of the contest immediately after the event concludes.
Last year, the OVC launched a channel for the OVC Digital Network on the Roku Streaming Player, giving viewers an easier option to watch the network directly on their television sets. Roku is a series of digital media player set-top boxes manufactured by Roku, Inc. that provide over-the-top content in the form of channels via a wired or Wi-Fi connection. In 2014, Roku streamed over 3 billion hours of content, up 72% from the prior year, and ended the year with about 7 million monthly active accounts. Roku currently offers a variety of streaming set-top boxes, streaming sticks and a co-branded Roku smart television. Last year nearly 4,000 Roku users subscribed (for free) to the OVC Digital Network channel.
