EVANSVILLE, Ind.— On a crisp October morning, Austin Peay State University men's cross country team finished first in the regular season finale at the UE Cross Country Invitational.
Senior Mathew Biwott paced the Govs with his first win of the season completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:06.9. Sophmore Nash Young (26:22.1) and junior Wesley Gray (26:41.1) finished third and seventh respectively, while Hezron Kiptoo (27:03.5) and Shadrack Matelong (27:04.6) pushed each other to 10th and 11th place finishes closing out the scoring for the Governors.
Sophomore Tyler Smith (27:22.8), Elliot Giles (29:07.9), Daniel Davis (30:07.1) and Andrew Abel (30:09.0) ran strong in the Govs final race of the regular season.
The Govs will return to action for the Ohio Valley Conference Championships 9 a.m., Oct. 28 in Charleston, Ill.
