CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University head softball coach Rodney DeLong has added two members to his inaugural coaching staff, with the additions of Jamie Allred and Dillon Bryant.
Allred, who will serve as the Govs pitching coach, is a former pitching standout for Southland Conference power McNeese State, while Bryant rejoins a DeLong coaching staff for the second time in his young coaching career.
A four-year letter winner for the Cowgirls, Allred left McNeese State as the program's all-time leader in wins (68), as well as the school's single-season leader in victories with 27 during the 2014 season.
She also holds the program's all-time and single-season marks for shutouts by a Cowgirls pitcher, with 16 in her career, with 10 coming during the 2014 season.
As a senior in 2016, Allred helped led McNeese State to a school record 43 victories and a NCAA Tournament berth. Earned All-Southland Conference honors three times while at McNeese State, including being selected the conference's Pitcher of the Year in 2014 and being selected to the NFCA Second-Team All-South Region team.
Following her impressive career at McNeese State, Allred played on two national championship teams overseas, first with the Therwil Flyers in Basel, Switzerland in 2016, followed by a Premier Women's Softball title with the West Auckland Magpies in New Zealand.
Bryant first coached with DeLong as a student assistant at Cameron University, beginning in 2013, followed by being elevated to the graduate assistant coaching position in 2015 and remaining on the Cameron coaching staff through the spring of 2017.
During his time on the Cameron coaching staff, the Aggies posted a 138-79 overall record, including a single-season record 41 wins in 2015.
He also helped lead the program to their first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2014, 2015.
During his tenure, the Aggie set 11 school offensive records, including setting marks for batting average, home runs, RBIs, runs, walks, stolen bases and slugging percentage, as well as having 12 All-Lone Star Conference, seven All-Region selections, two All-Americans and the 2015 Lone Star Conference Newcomer of the Year in 2015.
