Governors football announces 2018 schedule

February 21, 2018

CLARKSVILLE – An opening-week matchup against FBS national championship runner-up Georgia as well as a five-game home slate, including four Ohio Valley Conference home contests, highlight Austin Peay State University's 2018 football schedule.

Austin Peay, which started Spring practice on Monday, will open its 2018 schedule with a Saturday, Sept. 1 contest at Georgia, which played in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game this past season. The Governors then open their home schedule against Big South Conference member Presbyterian, Sept. 8. Austin Peay's nonconference slate ends when it travels to Morehead State, Sept. 15.

The Governors Ohio Valley Conference schedule begins with back-to-back road contests. A Sept. 22 contest at UT Martin opens OVC action followed by a Sept. 29 showdown at defending OVC Champion Jacksonville State.

Austin Peay hosts Tennessee State, Oct. 6, in its first home contest of the 2018 OVC race. That contest also will be the Governors traditional Family Weekend. APSU then travels to Southeast Missouri, Oct. 13, before its open week.

After the open week, Austin Peay will play three of its final four contests at Fortera Stadium. The 2018 Homecoming tilt will pit the Governors against Tennessee Tech, Oct. 27. The following week Eastern Kentucky visits Clarksville.

The final regular-season road trip takes the Governors north to meet Eastern Illinois, Nov. 10, before they return home to close out the regular-season slate. A Nov. 17 Heritage Bank Battle of the Border contest against Murray State will feature the Governors Military Appreciation events as well as Senior Day activities.
