CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Austin Peay State University women's tennis team used a second comeback win as many days, defeating Chattanooga, 4-3, Sunday, at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center.

The Governors (2-0) got off to a great start, with the team of Tatiana Lopez and Honoka Nakanishi winning at No. 2 doubles, 6-2. It was Nakanishi's first win as a Govs after joining the team a couple weeks ago.

However, the Mocs (0-2) responded, winning at No. 1 and No. 3 to win the doubles point, as the Govs found themselves in a 1-0 hole for the second straight day.

Lopez continued her perfect day, making quick work over Caroline Hall (6-1, 6-2) to even the match up at one. The Yanes Garcia twins then did what they do best—win singles matches in convincing fashion. Both Lidia and Claudia Yanes Garcia won in straight sets as the Govs stretched their lead to 3-1.

Meanwhile, Helena Kuppig and Danielle Morris were in heated battles to try and clinch the match for the Govs. Both players were tied at a set a piece with Kuppig winning the first set and Morris winning the second. However, Kuppig's opponent Bogdana Zaporozhets won the third set to cut into the Govs lead. As Morris waged war looking for the final point, Ana Albertson won the second set of her match, evening her match up at one set a piece, meaning either Morris or Albertson had to win their final sets to give the Govs the match win. Morris proved the moment was not too big for a freshman, taking the lead in the third and holding off her opponent, winning the deciding set, 6-4, as the Govs stayed undefeated on the year.

The Govs begin a five-match home stretch starting with hosting Western Kentucky next Saturday.
