Clarksville, TN – With the start of the college softball season this weekend, Softball America announced its inaugural selections for the Top 100 softball players in the country, Thursday afternoon, with Austin Peay State University's Morgan Rackel being selected at number 94.
For Rackel, a senior left-hander pitcher/outfielder from Calgary, Alberta, Canada this isn't the first national honor she has picked up in her career at Austin Peay.
Following her junior season -- where she posted a 22-7 win-loss record, a 1.41 ERA and 204 strikeouts in 184.1 innings pitched -- she was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Central Region's Third-Team.
Last season also saw Rackel named the Ohio Valley Conference's Pitcher of the Year, as well as to the All-OVC First-Team, All-OVC All-Newcomer Team and All-OVC Tournament Team selection.
Rackel finished the 2018 season ranked in the NCAA Division I softball's Top 50 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.56/6th), walks allowed per seven innings (1.03/16th), ERA (1.41/22nd), wins (22/38th), strikeouts (204/44th) and strikeout per seven innings (7.7/46th).
Rackel was joined by Eastern Illinois Haley Mitchell as the only other player from the Ohio Valley Conference to make the Top 100 list.
